Craft Fair 2017

Little Bohemian Heart was invited to participate in a local Craft Fair this month, Clay and Cloth, and an interesting day was had by all!

It was great to hear positive feedback from folks browsing, and it was especially fun that the items Little Bohemian Heart had to offer were met with so many "oohs" and "aahs" ...

If you haven't taken a look at Little Bohemian Heart's Etsy Shop recently, you really should. And if you have some ideas of your own, reach out to me and I'll see if I can create something especially for you.

Meet The Team

Baby Nick has been working with Little Bohemian Heart since the shop first opened it's doors, and is now joined by Baby Kay.

The shop features several Bohemian Baby Cocoon sets for sale, and these have been favorite items for the two to model. (See Boho Baby Cocoons for current offerings) Both have expressed an interest in trying out new lines of knitwear to model and ideas are being researched at this time. Stop by frequently in the future to see what's happening!

Baby Nick is excited to have a new companion to work with, and we agree that Baby Kay will be an excellent addition to our team.

Paisley

I recently did a quick google search, wondering how many active Etsy sellers there might be. I know there are quite a few, and I also know how difficult it can be to get your shop to show up high in the searches.

One source said there were 1.6 million Etsy sellers. And that was in June of 2016.

Yikes!

Little Bohemian Heart is a small shop wanting to be seen!

They say that the more listings a shop has, the more chance it has to be seen. True or false, it kind of makes sense. I guess offering more items could help, and since I happen to love all things paisley, it makes sense to offer items that are paisley.

So, here is the first official Paisley item in the Little Bohemian Heart Shop. It's vintage, plus Prince would be so proud ...  Little Bohemian Heart's Purple Paisley Tie

Some History

When my boys were at the age of school dances and girls, I was all of a sudden put into the position of picking out the corsage! Some of the girls had very specific corsages that they wanted, and then we tried to accommodate them, but most of the time we were left guessing and had only the color of her dress to work with. We mostly got corsages with white flowers.

Not all corsages are as durable as others, that we found out, too. One particular corsage was an orchid, very pretty and very expensive. The kids met for photos at someone's home, complete with a flowing chocolate fountain, which doesn't have anything to do with my story, but it was interesting all the same. Anyway, the orchid flower didn't stay attached to the bracelet. Drama, drama, drama! Photos had not even started let alone the dance, too early for a corsage to break down. We had nothing at hand to repair it, so it was a very sad thing.

Other times, I would go to the floral shop and try to order one with limited information. The florist was usually confident and suggested flowers and embellishments, but when it came time to pick up the corsage, I often felt a bit let down and wondered if I could make something I'd like better. And, of course one that would be more economical.

I decided to try to make a corsage. It filled my head with nonstop thoughts and ideas, and I obsessed over every detail such as how would I make sure that the flower stayed attached to the bracelet and not cause drama and angst to my son's date. And then it started to be fun. The idea of making and selling Keepsake Corsages was born.

Here are some photos of my first attempt at creating a Keepsake Corsage. I think it was well received!

Little Bohemian Heart has many other colorful flower wrist corsages, because, well, I happen to love lots of color.

This last photo doesn't have anything to do with my shop, but it was a Capris salad that I made for the kids to eat before going to one of the dances. It was delicious.

A Space of My Own

As you can imagine, crafting supplies can take up space.

I've never had a designated space of my own for Little Bohemian Heart, and that has been challenging. I dreamed of having a space where I could start a project, be able to leave it, and come back to work on it later. A space where supplies could be stored all in one place, and in an organized manner. Well, it finally happened.

Kids grow up and move out on their own, bedrooms become vacant, and new space opens up. Thank you to my 6' 4'' youngest son, Jacob, who gave me the blessing to use his childhood room ...

Husband, Bruce, is handy and painted my space a lovely shade of lilac. I love purple, and red. I also love all things sparkly, and since we just celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary (think diamond anniversary), he gave me a ceiling light fixture that sparkles like diamonds. I love this man.

One of our fur babies, Pumpkin, shares the room with me.

Let the creativity flow!
